Environment, Recycling and Materials

At Henderson Signs, we recognise the importance of managing our impact on the planet, which is why all of the signs and boards we produce are 100% recyclable. We only use materials that are widely processed in UK recycling plants, and work with a network of recyclers and ethical waste management companies to promote the sustainability of the industry and protect the environment.

Our Commitments

Henderson Signs recognise our responsibility for the environment and will ensure compliance with all relevant current and future legislation. Where appropriate, we will also endeavour to be compliant with appropriate codes of practice.

We are committed to minimising the environmental impact of our operations and products. In particular, we will achieve this through our commitment to:

  • and recycling our waste in line with all local authority regulations;

  • only using recyclable materials in the signs we produce;

  • ensuring any timber and paper we use is sourced sustainably;

  • where possible, endeavouring to procure materials from within the UK to lower our carbon footprint;

  • providing clear and accurate information to our clients regarding all materials used, and the correct method for disposal and recycling;

  • reviewing and enforcing our sustainable procurement policy to align with good practice;

  • minimising noise from the site; and

  • working closely with environmental advisors and regulators to improve our overall environmental credentials, and to ensure the ongoing conservation of sensitive ecosystems for which we are responsible.

A technical procedure separates and processes the valuable raw materials in DIBOND® meaning it is fully recyclable. DIBOND®-panels are free of heavy metal according to RoHS and REACH. Compared to pure aluminium and DIBOND® shows a notably better life cycle assessment according to ISO 14040.

  • Designed to be easily separated for recycling
  • Long life and durability

What’s it used for?

Companies We Work With

All of the timber we use is ethically sourced from Champion, who we have worked with for many years. Champion hold Environmental Chain of Custody Certification from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)® and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). The suppliers they use independently audited for the Responsible Purchasing Policy (RPP) of the Timber Trade Federation and Forests Forever.

Any offcuts are collected and disposed of in an environmentally friendly way by a local waste management company, where they are recycled to be used as fuel to provide heating. All other waste generated during production is collected and recycled by Veolia, one of the countries largest ethical waste management companies. Veolia have won several awards for their work in environment protection and sustainability, and more information on their environmental commitments can be found here.

All of our paper products are sourced from Antalis, and are 100% recyclable in all UK plants. More information about Antalis and their commitments to the environment and sustainability can be found here.
